Festival evensong with music chosen to represent different corners of the British Isles. The City of London Choir is directed by Daniel Hyde (of King's College, Cambridge) with Westminster Abbey's Paul Greally at the organ.

Choral evensong sits at the heart of this country's great Sacred Choral Music tradition for which UNESCO World Heritage Status is currently sought. Perhaps more than any other genre, liturgical music is often written for a particular building, and inextricably linked with its architecture, heritage and people. This service of evensong will include music by Thomas Tallis (associated with churches including Canterbury Cathedral, the Chapel Royal, and St Mary-at-Hill here in the City), Sir James MacMillan (music dedicated to the Choir of St Columba's Church, Maryhill, Glasgow) and the great Irish composer Sir Charles Villiers Stanford, with psalm chants and hymn tunes representing the great Welsh choral tradition.

Music includes:

TALLIS O nata lux

TALLIS Preces and responses

MACMILLAN O radiant dawn

STANFORD Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in B flat

City of London Choir

Paul Greally, organ

Daniel Hyde, conductor
