Now we are sixty
We were delighted recently to commission film-maker Ian Skelly to produce a short film about the choir as it passes the 60th anniversary of its founding and approaches an exciting new phase. We hope you enjoy meeting a few of us and experiencing a snapshot of a top London choir doing what it loves best. A subtitled version is available here.

Membership matters
New Membership Secretary Jen Withington knows a thing or two about choir membership: she has loved singing soprano with the City of London Choir for 31 years and considers Monday evenings one of the highlights of her week. She says that though she has lived in various parts of the UK and tried several other choirs for size, they’ve never quite measured up to CLC. Already a trustee, she is looking forward to combining her Social Secretary role with Membership and feels it will

Joining the team
The choir's trustees have much pleasure in announcing Lindsey Griffiths as the newest addition to their number. Lindsey is a very familiar face to CLC members present and past, having joined the choir in 1995 and supported the choir in many ways over the years, and with her long experience she is well placed to take on responsibility for special projects. Lindsey says “It is a privilege to have been part of the City of London Choir for more than three decades. I have enjoyed

Introducing our new Chairman
The CLC is delighted to announce Adrian Thompson as the choir's new Chairman, following Daniel Mansfield's retirement. Adrian joined the choir in 2014 as Second Bass and became a Trustee in 2019. He has performed a number of roles since then, with a particular focus on the choir's membership. “As a lifelong singer I know only too well that being in a choir can be so precious and uplifting through life’s ups and downs. Being a member of such a mighty choir as the CLC is a joy

Thank you, Chairman
As the choir approaches the end of another full and busy season, Daniel Mansfield has just announced his retirement as Chairman of the City of London Choir. Dan joined the choir's committee within a few months of joining the choir, some thirty years ago, so his 'return to the backbenches' of the bass section will in fact be something of a novelty. On the choir's behalf, fellow trustee Chris Matthews presented presented him with an olive tree to thank him for so many years of

RIP Humphrey Burton CBE
We were deeply saddened by the passing of our patron, Humphrey Burton, in December 2025. A generous supporter of the City of London Choir, he shared his extraordinary love and knowledge of music with all who knew him, inspiring audiences and performers alike. Through his brilliant career as a broadcaster, producer, and writer, he brought classical music and the arts into countless homes, shaping the way generations experienced and understood music. His landmark programmes, fr
